Small Victories Vol. II

Happy Friday and Happy Valentine's Day, all!

First, thank you so much for all of your kind words about my sweet girl!

Second, this week I managed to check off everything from my to-do list, and then some! Some small victories this week (actually I don't know if it's fair to call them small, some were pretty big!):
  • did an AWESOME speed session on Monday! After our day Sunday and Monday being my long day and being ridiculously cold and windy, it was the absolute last thing I wanted to do, but I am so glad I did. I did intervals/half mile repeats/whatever you want to call them and ended up with a half mile PR (I don't think that's a real thing, but I'm making it one - 7:51), mile PR (8:15 - previous was 8:25), 5K PR (26:32 - previous was 27:13), and 5 mile PR (44:41 - previous was 44:50). This was only my second attempt at speed work and even though I ran more intervals than last week, had less recovery time in between, and ran them faster, it actually felt easier than last week. And bonus: an accidental tempo run on Wednesday!
  • My left leg has been giving me all kinds of weird issues this week, but spending some time with my BFF up there helped. After about 15 minutes yesterday I finally found the spot that was bothering me and wow, it hurt so good. If you are a runner and you don't own this thing, purchase IMMEDIATELY. You can thank me later.
  • kind of a big HUGE deal! I have severe plane anxiety and HATE flying. The last time I did it was in June 2011 and I had a panic attack in the middle of the flight, good times! Thankfully these flights are under 2 hours and nonstop. I'm freaking out but hopeful that my Xanax and I will get through it just fine.
  • got a ridiculously cheap price on aforementioned plane tickets. I am someone who never seems to find deals on anything, but I was able to book our tickets at the lowest price possible and it ended up costing us more than $100 less than what we were expecting!
  • sent packages to my sisters (in-law)!!! I was in Target in August I think and saw 2 things that were perfect for each of them, so I bought them to save for Christmas. Well, I didn't end up seeing them at Christmas so the gifts have just been sitting in my house all this time. I thought I'd make their day by mailing them instead of just giving them to them the next time I see them! I mean, who doesn't love getting stuff in the mail, especially surprise stuff?! If you answered "No one," that is correct. I'm also still obsessed with my Erin Condren planner and all the goodies that came with it, like these gift case you were wondering
  • rearranging our budget to accommodate for things like vet bills and a new iPhone to replace the one I dropped and shattered the screen le sigh. We were doing SO well with our budget and I didn't want to have to totally blow it. Even though we still have to spend the money, normally once something blows the budget I'm just like, "Oh well, now we might as well buy ALL THE THINGS!" But this time I found some categories in our budget where we can sacrifice and therefore afford these unfortunate expenses without cutting into the money we want to save this month.
So excited to get today started! After class I am heading to Sephora to get my makeup done for our date tonight! I needed to go get some moisturizer anyway, and I figured it would be a nice pick-me-up for me a nice surprise for my husband.

Hope you all have a lovely and love-filled day!

  1. Such an awesome and upbeat post! Way to go you! Hoping your enthusiasm carries through to the rest of the month!

  2. I am totally and completely afraid of heights, but I awkwardly enjoy flying. I don't know how that makes any sense hahaha!
