Fall, You Can Be Here Now.

Summer is not my favorite season. While I do think its season brings with it its own, unique good things, summer's not-so-good things generally outweigh the good. Over the past few summers my hatred of this season has seemed to intensify more and more, but this year I only had to not like it instead of flat-out hate it. Confession: I have even come to kind of enjoy that I can run until 9pm because it's still light outside. I don't know if it was moving to the mountains or if we all got a collective break, but walking out of my house did not feel like stepping right into a sauna, so that was a huge win. Maybe it's the time off that I've always had during the summer, maybe it's the heat, maybe it's something I can't put my finger on, but I've never felt like I could really get into a groove during the summer. Moving (which was a 6-week process, all told) and school made this summer an especially chaotic one. It has been hard to feel settled.

Fall, on the other hand, has an always will be my favorite season. I haven't spent the whole summer wishing for fall (like I usually do), but the closer it gets, the more ready I am for it to be here!

Because this jacket is just sitting in the back of closet making me sad every time I see it. I love those crisp fall days when it's just cool enough to need to throw on something light like this.

Because the leaves change to maroon and orange for a reason.

Because fall running is my favorite! I have some races lined up in the next couple of months (Hokie Half Marathon, City of Oaks Half Marathon, Richmond Marathon) and I can't wait!

I know it wasn't that long ago (like, March to be exact) that I was whining about the never-ending cold and trying to will spring to get here, but I'm over that now. Bring it on, fall!

  3. I'm not ready for fall yet! I feel like I haven't had much of a summer with the weather being so back and forth in Boston this year.

  4. Summer has always been my favorite season but this is the first year I haven't totally gotten into it! Maybe it has to do with house hunting and the fact that it consumed our weekends but I feel like I completely missed the season. Either way, I'm ready for fall... especially fall clothes!!

  5. Summer is not my favorite season, but I really do love how long it's light outside.

It's been quite cool this summer. I love that.

  6. Fall running is absolutely the best! I cannot wait for the crisp fall air.
I'm training for my first marathon (in December). Training has been rough this summer, as in every summer I suppose.
    Happy miles!

  7. I agree that this summer hasn't been too bad at all. I love how it stays lighter later too! But I agree, come on fall! I just wish it lasted longer. Seems like it's only fall for a few weeks then it starts snowing. Boo. That jacket is amazing! Where did you get it?

  8. I typically LOVE summer and have been wishing for fall a little bit myself-- buuut yesterday I was like WAIT, I'm not ready for it to be winter and I think I'm afraid it's going to go from hot to really cold!

  9. I used to love, love, love summer, but in recent years it's just been too oppressively hot and so humid here in NJ that it makes it hard to appreciate it by this time of the season. I'm ready for fall too. The ONLY thing I don't absolutely love about fall is that winter is right behind it. And around these parts we've had some rough, unpredictable weather — like a Halloween snowstorm that left my hometown blacked out for a week just on the heels of Hurricane Irene, and then the mess that was Hurricane Sandy that left us all out of power and water for a while. But I am SO looking forward to my first fall as a runner. I drove through my (soon to be) new neighborhood the other day and just thought to myself, oh my god, this is going to be BEYOND gorgeous to run through once the leaves change. Also, here's to all the apple and pumpkin flavored everythings!

  10. Fall is definitely my favorite, too! Not because of running... this bitch doesn't run, hahaha! But in general I just love the atmosphere and weather!

  12. I am looking forward to fall running, but not winter running. I've been loving it since it cooled down a little bit already. SO much better than sweating your face off while running.

  15. Oh I love fall for all those reasons too. When I was growing up in Ontario, we had the best fall weather and the trees were always vibrant red, orange and yellow. I miss that type of Fall but I still enjoy the slightly crisper weather and like you said, Fall running is the best!

    1. The leaves are probably my favorite part. There's just something so magical about all the different colors!

  16. I love love LOVE summer but for some reason I've been really looking forward to fall these past few days. Most likely due to the fact that I had to endure two days of work last week without any air conditioning when there was a heat warning. As soon as fall arrives though I'll be desperately missing summer
