Oh, hey.

I didn't forget I have a blog. I just started new classes this week, which is actually kind of the same thing. You should probably just click on this picture and ready all of Kathy's bad blogger confessions because...samesies. Except add "I would rather read and watch Pretty Little Liars than do anything blog-related."

Vodka and Soda

I'm THAT girl today...that girl who wears workout clothes to class. I normally try to look decent for class - the younger folk think it's weird but after several post-grad years in the working world, I got used to not looking like I just rolled out of bed (or covering it up if that happened to be the case). But today I've got on my running shorts and tee so I can dash out of class and run on my break in between classes. I've had some trouble so far figuring out how to work with my new school schedule so I'm giving this a shot. At least I'm coming home first so I don't have to wear my running shoes to class. Last week I left them outside overnight and I was afraid some critter may have crawled in them and made a home, so I asked Ben to check them before I put them on. His response: "Those shoes smell so bad, there's not way anything could live in there." And ya know what? He's not wrong.

As of today, I am not drinking for the next 50 days. I don't drink a crazy amount but over the summer I have found myself having a beer (or two) after dinner more and more often and it's not a habit I want to continue. This is more or less influenced by the fact that my marathon training, which hasn't been going all that well, is ramping up soon and I want to be as healthy as I can be for that. There are a couple of occasions when I already know I'll have a drink or two, but other than those, I won't be drinking at all. (P.S. If this is something you're interested in getting in on, click the picture above and join in!).

That's all for today! Maybe my brain will be functioning correctly again soon.

  1. Oh man. 50 days? You're a beast. I really really really enjoy beer... I don't know if I could do it, but I know it would be good for me. Ohhh decisions are hard!

My marathon training isn't going well at all. In fact, we made the heartbreaking decision this week to forego our marathon in December and do the half instead. We're planning for a spring 2015 marathon. We just took too much off time earlier this summer doing wedding stuff. Bummer.

  2. Since leaving my job and having life revolve around packing, I've only been wearing workout clothes! And I'm not even doing any real workouts!! I was just telling my husband that I can't wait to unpack everything after this weekend because I miss my real clothes!

  3. Haha I am always that girl in class even though I have the best intentions of dressing up I'm tempted by the lululemons that are so comfortable and I'm lazy. I've been avoiding alcohol lately too, so I'd love to join. We aren't heavy drinkers in our house but ya, the occasional class of wine after dinner does make a regular appearance in the summertime. I love the idea of resetting and just avoiding it for a while.

  4. Even if I wanted to dress up for class, once my alarm went off and it was time to get ready, I quickly became lazy and decided "nope. workout clothes will do!" haha

And thanks for joining! We can do it! :)

  7. I could easily go 50 days, especially since my husband doesn't drink at all anymore. I just looked on my calendar and it's been 18 days since I last had a drink. You can do it!

I hope you acclimate to your new schedule soon. I hate feeling like I'm out of a routine.

  9. I've commented on Blake's posts about drinking/my relationship with alcohol — a lot like hers. I just really don't like being drunk. I've outgrown the way I used to drink, thank god, because in my younger days I was not smart about it. When I decided to stop, I ended up not drinking at all for a while, and then when I did, I decided I would be at a 2-drink maximum (or its equivalent on those nights where you can't catch a buzz) when I do drink. I've been drunk maybe twice in the last two years — my cousin's wedding and one night after the bar at my house. It's really nice to know that I've given myself back control over my body and how I drink. Hopefully this experience will leave you with nothing but positive outcomes and good feelings! (I thought about joining in myself, but I'm in the middle of moving to a place around the corner from a bar, and I'm gonna owe my helpers some drinks haha)

  10. I hope the first week of classes are going as well as they could! :) You'll get adjusted with your new school schedule and running schedule soon I'm sure! I've definitely been drinking less wine since Peter left :P

  11. Hope the first day of classes went well! I think an alcohol reset is a great idea! I just love it too much to give up my weekly martini for 50 days. lol

  12. Oh my gosh, I almost always wore workout clothes to class! I usually had classes all day & I had a long commute so I just wanted to be comfortable more than anything else! I hope your new classes are going well so far!
