What If I Told You...

It has been too many months to count since my last confession, so I'm linking up with Melissa for the redux of Humpday Confessions!

Making Melissa

I do not find Channing Tatum attractive. There I said it. Do I still get to play…?

I, along with everyone else on the planet, resolved to budget better in 2015. Or rather, I looked at how much money I put into savings last year and then at how much money I gave to Virginia Tech, and they weren't even close. I spent a lot the last couple of months working on my capsule wardrobe (#noregrets) so I needed to cool it and decided I'd give myself $100 a month this year to play with. I've already actually or mentally spent every last cent of this month's.

I impulse-bought some running shoes, which doesn't even count toward my $100 since running shoes are necessity (confession within a confession?). But you guys, you guys....I saved $95 off MSRP. UNHEARD OF. Now they'll sit in wait until I need to break them out in a month or two. I was really just looking out for future me here.

I may or may not now have a spreadsheet for the 2015 calendar year detailing how long each of my running shoes will last and when I will need to replace them.

I frequently blog/respond to comments/email while riding my bike on my indoor trainer. And by "frequently" I mean right now.

On Saturday night, as we prepped to entertain friends on Sunday, we realized we only own 3 wine glasses (2 red and 1 random white…plus a tiny stemless one I got from a race and a wine sippy cup I got at The Book of Mormon, if those count). We used to have a set of 4 of red and white and now we're down to 3. We're really good at being adults, obviously.

  1. I don't find Channing Tatum attractive either! I mean, I guess I can understand the appeal, but I just don't think he's that great looking. Shrug.

That's a serious awesome deal on your running shoes! I find myself counting running shoes as a "necessity" as if they were any other bill. I'm curious to know what shoes you got! :)

  2. I have just been thinking the same thing... time to lay off buying the "stuff." I went to Target one too many times. #woops :-) Congrats on the score on the shoes!!! Such a deal.

  5. That is an awesome deal that you got on your shoes! I really am focusing on budgeting this year too. Last year I definitely spent way to frivolously.

  6. I read while I'm on the elliptical. No one else understands. Texting though, incredibly difficult.. Whew.

I just started a new job, which meant getting a new wardrobe since I had ZERO dressy civilian clothes. I vowed to wear dresses. I come to work every day and these people are wearing jeans. I'm not even sorry I'm the best dressed in the office.

  7. I don't really see the Channing thing either, so you are not alone on that!!! We have entirely too many glasses- of all sorts, shapes and sizes. Maybe I should mail you some! I don't know how we keep ACCUMULATING more! lol

  8. I don't love Channing Tatum.. If I had a list of attractive celebrities he wouldn't make the top 10 lol. But he's not super ugly either. I am still in awe over your running shoes deal - that's amazing, really. and I am also in awe that you can do anything on the bike - seriously, that's some coordination right there.

  9. OK I am dying over your spreadsheet! I make fun of my boyfriend all the time because he makes a spreadsheet for everything and it's just too perfect that you're both studying engineering. I think I'm on to something here lol Your Training for Tuesday link up sounds fun! My training consists of walking the dog, but once it warms up I'm hoping to start running again this year. My body doesn't work in the cold...like my knee actually gave out once and I crashed to the ground!

  10. I have wordpress and their mobile app is not nice to type on. Another reason blogger might be a bitttttttttttt better. Also I have a weird mix of wine glasses. One day, I'll be an adult and buy one whole matching set...one day.

  11. You don't like Channing!?!?!? I think I like him because 1. he dances. 2. he really seems to love his wife. That always makes a man so much more handsome :)

  12. Thank goodness!!! I don't find him attractive either and I always feel crazy because people go crazy over him! (also I scrolled down to comment that before I read the rest of your post, lol.) I think the running shoes purchase definitely makes sense-- you would have spent the money later on anyway... and what an awesome deal! I may or may not have already wrote my post for next week :)

  13. Oh my gosh. You make me laugh so much.

Hey... THAT much off MSRP?! Yeah. I don't blame you a single bit for buying those.

  14. Wow. I can just barely pull off reading on a stationary bike. I can't do anything but listen to music on an elliptical. You write and respond to comments on an indoor bike? That blows my mind. I'm very impressed! :)

  15. Have you seen Magic Mike? Guess there is more Channing for me then....haha! ;)

We have been working on a new budget and way of paying bills this month. Being an adult is so fun, right?? Sounds like you got an amazing deal on your shoes though! Obviously a need!

  16. I don't find Channing that attractive either! He's funny and cute but I don't go all crazy over him…Where did you find that shoe deal?! I've been thinking about getting an indoor bike because training through this winter/snow hasn't been too much fun and I still want to be able to get some cardio in the days I have to take off due to the weather!

  17. I think he was way cuter in the Step Up days!!! We have more wine glasses then we know what to do with - I should send you some LOL! xo, Biana

  18. Giving yourself a monthly budget is the only way to watch your spending. That's what we've done since we got married, and it's been awesome. Well, annoying but awesome :) Good luck!

  19. Thats hilarious you said that about Channing Tatum- like sure, he's not ugly! But I don't find myself attracted to him like most ladies! ;) I'm so excited about your training Tuesday linkup!

  20. hahaha, nice confession on Channing Tatum! My husband and I have a set amount of "personal" money each money, aka "you can't judge me for buying this because it's my judgement free money" (not that we judge each other, but you know what I mean)I usually bank mine for nice shoes, purses, etc and he banks his to go nuts on guys weekends, haha. Though budgeting might not be the most exciting thing in the world, I think it's important to share different strategies because saving money and being smart with your finances is difficult! I also love that you blog on the trainer, nice work :)

  21. Haha I'm totally with you on the budgetting fail. I resolved to save, but then I got an email about this super sale at Uniqlo and blew $200. Oops. I figure if anything, I can return. Happy Friday!

  22. Budgets are annoying. I've spent too much the past few weeks and it sucks :( But heyyyy, new shoes are TOTALLY a good investment and you *needed* them for the future, so you're practically already saving, right?!

I am definitely going to link up on Tuesday!! Just a post about how training is going?! Is it every month on the 27th? I wanna make sure I can participate :)

  23. Channing aint that attractive. hehe He has a kind of dumb cute appeal and I dont do dumb well. I do like him though! Ugh as for budgets... I need the lord to personally come and help me to stop spending!

  24. Responding to comments while on the trainer sounds like a great idea! I could probably get in some elliptical time AND catch up on life! Multitasking at its finest!

  25. The money you spent on running shoes this month saved you from buying them in 2-3 months so justification? Kind of?
