People I Don't Get

I like to think of myself as a pretty smart person. If I don't understand something, I can usually figure it out. But for some reason, lately I've come across several people that I just can't make sense of.

The Offenders:

Girls who spend the whole bus ride having a conversation consisting entirely of various complaints: Listen, I'm not always a ray of sunshine either but would it be so hard to start your Thursday with a little positivity?

Girl who called her 36 bra band size "small": I don't think that word means what you think it means. Come talk to me when you have to make due with the scant selection of 32" bands because the store doesn't carry 30".

Bloggers who talk about "growing the blog" and whatnot: Then why don't you ever respond to comments? (Bloggers who do respond: I <3 you).

This biyatch who honked at me and flipped me off as I was walking through a crosswalk (presumably because she had to choose between slowing down and running me over): As I already expressed to you both verbally and manually: eff you. Anyone driving on campus knows you generally have to go slower than the speed limit anyway and that 9 times out of 10, you will have to stop for someone in a crosswalk. Also, maybe you should get out of the car and try running 13+ miles and then let me know how fast you're able to walk through a crosswalk.

People who ride their bikes on sidewalks: Stop trying to make this happen. It's not going to happen. That's what the street is for.

What do people do that you just do not get?

  1. Some people...
I've been trying lately to just ignore things like this so it doesn't get to me :-) Easier said than done.

    1. Ha yes it is! Especially, like in the case of complainers on the bus, when you're trapped and have no choice but to listen to them!

  2. I don't get bloggers that don't interact either... what's the point?
See, I'm opposite - I HATE bikers on the road. They make me so nervous that I'm going to hit them.

  3. ahhh the complaining people and the bloggers who are all about growing their blog but ignoring the readers.. nice. there is a crosswalk i have to cross every day to get from the car park to my work and every day without fail, someone tries to run me over. they just don't pay attention - i swear, i stop and they fly straight by me and i see the look of horror on their face as they finally see me.. if i had kept walking, they would have hit me. so now, i just hide behind a tree and cross when there are no cars. thats not weird, is it?

  4. People who are fake. Sure, we all want to be nice to each other, but I can tell when you're faking it. I'd rather just cut the bull and not do this small talk crap than be insulted by your fake laughter. Don't have time for that!

  5. I don't like people who just complain, complain, complain... how do you even live with yourself? my gosh!

  6. I don't get people who grunt at the gym when they are lifting or when they drop the weights. Maybe instead of trying to impress 20 other sweaty people you just drop the weight 10 lbs and actually succeed at doing reps? ARGH!

  7. Well I honestly don't get most things that most people do, but yeah, all of these. I *cannot stand* constant complainers. Venting is one thing. Getting something off your chest is fine. If you launch into a diatribe about everything you find unsatisfactory every time I see you? I'm not gonna be seeing much more of you.

Also, on the converse of you car/crosswalk thing (which I totally feel you on), last night I was driving the speed limit down a fairly busy street and had to slam on my breaks because a woman (dressed in all black and barely visible in the dark, mind you) just stepped right off the sidewalk (not in the crosswalk, which was a block up) and into the street without looking... AND THEN GLARED AT ME for stopping short. Lady, please.

  8. Ugh, I agree with all of these. Your last one cracked me up and made me think of Mean Girls "stop trying to make fetch happen. It's NOT going to happen" lol!!!

  9. People that do nothing but complain drive me crazy too!!! I sat in the dr office today as I heard this woman complain to her husband for about 30 minutes straight and he looked miserable and like he wasn't even listening. She was so loud about every comment because you could hear her clearly all the way across the room!

And bloggers that dont respond to comments ever are dead to me. Good luck getting people to come back!

  10. Ohhhh yes girl! The complainers are the worst- I hate when people just start their day whining and moaning, like assuming it's going to be a bad day. (wait, did I just complain, oops?!) Also- I don't understand how people just don't respond to comments EVER. I get not being able to get around to every.single.one. if you have a mega-blog, but cmon!

  11. Hahaha! This is perfect. I don't get complainers either. Seriously. Maybe a complaint every once in a while, if it's relevant... but just because? BLAH! Get out of my face!

And I do have a valid bra size dilemma. No one carries 34 DDD... not in bras fit for anyone younger than 60, at least. VS carries 1 or 2 styles in DDD, but the color selection is so poor. Bummer. But I feel you. Completely... just the opposite. :)

  12. Ugh the complainers…I have my moments but the debbie downers?! No thanks! I also don't get the people that workout with their hair down…why do you think they invented pony tail holders?!

  13. I can't believe that girl had the nerve to give you the finger!! Ugh. I saw someone else commented about it, but I was also going to say those grunters at the gym. I'm used to hearing it from men, but the last couple days I've been hearing it from a woman! A female making those noises while working out....ummm ok. I don't get that!

  14. Loved these themed confessions! Come back to NJ, it's illegal to ride your bike the sidewalk. :) The cell phone thing bugs me too, mainly because I just don't want to hear it.

  15. Ugh I cannot stand complainers at all. I really try my best not to do it!! Ugh. Also bikes are for the street! That drives me batty.

  16. I am the opposite about bike riders. Where I live they have these huge sidewalks for both pedestrians and cyclists and then all the bikers drive on the street which doesn't even have a bike lane! Also I've definitely kicked a car for getting too close to me and my dog while walking across the sidewalk. I would have lost it if they honked at me.

  17. Oh girl commuting with people who constantly talk on the phone drive me insane!!! And then complaining on top of it - for everyone to hear - so annoying! xo, Biana - BlovedBoston

  18. I've started this new thing where I just stop and smile and wave at people who get pissed off that they have to stop for a crosswalk. It's incredibly gratifying haha.

  19. Oh, bikers on the sidewalk. Especially when they give ME nasty looks for WALKING on the sideWALK when there's a bike lane 5 feet away. If you don't feel comfortable riding your bike on the street like you're supposed to, don't ride your bike.

Also, similar to the complainers -- people who point out something negative about EVERYTHING. Like, "I like XYZ except for..." or "This place is great!" "It's too crowded." or "That sounds fun!" "I bet it'll be too expensive." Makes me want to scratch my eyes out.

    1. "If you don't feel comfortable riding your bike on the street like you're supposed to, don't ride your bike." YES you are so right about that. That's what irks me the most - when you don't ride on the street because you're afraid, the cars on the street are less used to people riding their bikes on the street, and then they want to treat those of us who do it correctly like we're the assholes. You're making it worse for everyone! Just stop.

  20. Negative Nancy's are the worst!!!! I can't stand people who just constantly put down others and themselves, even if it's just with a friend or over the phone. And especially in public.

I don't understand people who don't turn their lights on when it's snowing or raining. It's a law here and people still don't follow it!!

  21. Bloggers who talk about "growing the blog" and whatnot: Then why don't you ever respond to comments? (Bloggers who do respond: I <3 you). - Ummm YES my number one type of person I don't get!
Also I don't get those women who don't have kids say they never want them and then proceed to tell those who do have them what they're doing wrong... I don't have kids but I've just been noticing a trend lol
