Sunday Sweats - Vol. 14

I'm writing this over a week after the fact (one of the busiest weeks I've ever had, at that), so details are fuzzy. Fortunately (for purposes of writing anyway, not for training and life in general), I don't have many workouts to remember and report on...

Monday 3/28: 1800yd swim @ 1:54/100yd | I went swimming!!! I have been putting off getting back in the pool and was going to wait until marathon training was over to start back that Big Sur is out, marathon training is effectively over so I'm out of excuses. I was intending to start back easy with 1000yds (20 laps). The first few felt great, then my arms were on fire for a few more, and after about 10 I got in a groove. By the time I made it to 1000yds I was feeling lame about stopping after less than 20 minutes, so I decided to keep going to a mile (1800yds). When I got there, I contemplated an extra 350yds to get to HIM swim distance but I decided to quit while I was ahead. This was my first time swimming with my Garmin 920XT that I got for Christmas, and it was so nice not having to count my laps! I mean, I still did because there's nothing else to really do, but I didn't focus on it like I would normally. When I got out I was surprised to see that my pace was on the faster end of the spectrum for me.

Tuesday 3/29: 60 minutes boxing | I don't remember what we did at boxing today. I know it was arm day for me but that's it. I remember not being able to move my arms very well afterward.

Wednesday 3/30: 60 minutes spin | Peloton rides: 30 minutes with Jess, 30 minutes with Nicole. Jess's playlist was ON POINT! It was a rock theme and she threw in everything from The Police to Pink Floyd to System of a Down. Definitely up there on my list of favorite classes.

Thursday 3/31 - Sunday 4/2: Nothing! I was slammed with work on Thursday and really wanted to make it to boxing, but I worked straight through it. Over the weekend I did a lot of walking around DC, looking at apartments, walking to lunch and dinner with the best blog friends, and spectating the Cherry Blossom 10-Miler, but nothing in the way of actual workouts.

  1. That playlist sounds awesome! In my third ever spin class experience on Saturday, the instructor really coordinated her class to the music. I'm starting to learn about bike/spin things like ladders and dancing, woo. Thank you again for your awesome spectator support last Sunday! <3

  2. Yay for the break Thursday to sunday and for dinner with best bloggy friends. Hows the injury? Any better?

  3. I've always wondered how the watches work for swimming. Does it beep at you on every lap? Or at the end of a certain distance? How do you hear it in the water?

  4. yay for swimming! good job. and also yay for a relaxing (in terms of workouts) weekend.
