Ironman North Carolina Training: Week 15

Monday 9/12

60 minute trainer ride + 4.01 mile run @ 8:52
AM: I have a bit of a lighter week this week in prep for my 70.3 coming up on Sunday, so it was a one hour ride on the trainer followed by a 35 minute run. DC was looking particularly gorgeous this morning!

Wednesday 9/14
2750yd swim @ 1:47/100yds
PM: Just a little to get ready for Sunday! I hadn't swam in a week since the Nation's Tri swim got canceled. It flew by pretty quickly - crazy how little a 1.5-mile swim feels now that I've gotten used to 2+ miles regularly. 

Thursday 9/15
5 mile run @ 8:09
AM: My plan said to "Have fun with pickups (Fartlek style) and smile", so that I did! I haven't seen paces like this in quite a while so it was a challenge, but also quite fun to go fast.

Friday 9/16

PM: I hadn't planned on doing anything today, but Alyssa had 3 miles to do on the hotel treadmill and since misery loves company, I joined her for a short shakeout run.

AM: I had a great race in AC! After a rough start on the swim - strong current that shortened the swim halfway through the race, hence the question mark since I have no idea how far I actually swam - things really turned around for me. I had a phenomenal bike split, like still trying to wrap my head around how I rode that fast for that long phenomenal, and my run was about what I expected, especially given that the heat index was almost up to 90 and there was no shade on the course. It was a really fun race and I'm so glad I decided to sign up on a whim when registration opened last fall!
